The Secret Scent of a Lady Queen

Are you ready to get a taste of the scent from the Lady Queen?

Updating to the readers/ viewers although this is not completed yet.

Still got some under editing but due to new semester started , ya still a student. This project has been a very very long kept almost a year from the very rough sketch of the design of the mask till today. It was hard for me to find a model and measure the head well. But problems come in when i took this project a little too long for finding makeup artist and hair stylist who willing to do this for free, for art and for port folio only and ended up i lost booking the actual model with the correct size of the face to fits the mask. As a student and unknown person like me, how can i afford a makeup artist or hairstylist by paying them? Luckily, there's generous friends, or kind people still can be found.

So, I ended up finding my own sister to do the photoshoot.

This project has been kept for almost a year before I actually started to photoshoot it. It took me months to partly making the masquerade and also coping with studies. This mask was originally made according to a face of previous model who actually interested in this project. But sadly, because of many delay from me for finding makeup artist and hairstylist and catch up with university life. So, her time schedule is packed now as she is working now and less flexible hours. Luckily, i get to have friends who are generous enough to help me, so I get to find contacts for renting clothes and get to know a makeup artist. In the end, i just find my sister to replace the previous model. I tried to find another one before her, but she was very busy too, so i have worked with my sister for many times in photoshooting =) haha. She's the most patient one who consistent being my model. Appreciated.

Convocation of Kamarul

I was invited to be photographer for my friend to attend his convocation. Of course I am happy for him too. =) I wish i can graduate soon with everything passing smoothly haha. I am happy to try out my new 50mm micro lens with aperture value can down to f 1.8. But through out this whole photo shoot session, not all are just using one lens, but two lens, the other one is kit lens.

I still having problems dealing monitor color calibration. I can see my photos in other monitors look either very pale or bright, or very dark n vibrant. Maybe its time to invest a good calibrator or more accurate color monitor like MAC which i still choose not to buy, its expensive to me as a student.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy viewing these photos =)

Wedding Dinner of Jocelyn + Wai Keong

its my sister's wedding dinner! Yup, she is married now. I am happy for her as long as she is happy =). I took some photos for her and also for myself on that day although I am not the official photographer. It was challenging for me as I do not have upgraded flash light and worry my flash light will create hard light and indoor usually will get noise. So, I ended up doing heavy editing to reduce the noise in the photos =).

I only post some selected photos here only because of copyright and permissions right of the people captured in the photo. Hope you all enjoy and do like my photos.

Free individual outdoor/indoor photoshoot session by me, Jason Lim starting from October. Every month I will be taking 2 person individual photoshoots.

People who are interested and have their own idea or theme of the photoshoot must self provide accessories, clothes and make up.

Conceptual portrait photoshoots and location suggested by you must provide self provide transport or map guidelines to photographer unless is within Cyberjaya, Puchong, Sunway, Old Klang Road and Bukit Jalil.

Volunteers who willing to be photographed with photographer's own concept or idea, some accessories may be contributed by photographer.

It will be half day photoshoot session.

Chosen photos will be delivered to you after 7 working days (around 30-40 photos will be chosen ones.)

My friend invited me to attend his friend's wedding dinner which is Yvonne. =) Its my first time attending someone's wedding dinner who I am not very close to but it is a good chance for me to practice my photography skill as well. =)

here are some old photos i took quite long time ago that my friends and I went to a animal care society center to do social work for our moral assignment. =) And there's a lot of stray dogs and cute puppies and also have cats on the other section separated from dogs.

two days ago, i saw 3 lizards in my kitchen basin, I was a little shocked when i saw so many in one basin haha.

this is something that i recently only learn to capture this effect called bokeh. Isn't it cool? XD but i haven't fully master this skill yet hahaha.

BANGKOK family trip!

I've been to Bangkok during my semester break for 4 days 3 nights with my family. The beautiful nostalgic buildings to modern colorful buildings, and affordable worthy clothes and spicy food and many beautiful looking people and cute good stray dogs are there. I would like to go back once more for shopping hahahaha!

Whose Aquarius

This idea i got it from the glass bottles i collected, Aquarius in Mandarin called "水瓶座“ which direct translation means water bottle. So, this is how i got the concept. This was my 5th time if I'm not mistaken, working together with my second sister, Eva as my model and she and I are also both Aquarius. That's why I find her to be the model. This time, I first time asked my first sister to tag along to be helper during the photoshoot. It was fun and fine, at least she get to know how is the process of the photo shooting I normally do.

I think this is the best shot i took among all photos , good posture and good angle and good weather because got wind blew that time to get nicer effect =)

Last week I went to photoshooting with my sister's friends and their photographers which are Wilson Tham, Ki SiaoYang and Max. Good experience to work in a group.

Accessories by herself and i made the little hat for her by reusing paper cups and plastic bottle cut out and put together and painted.

I was trying to take different kinds of photos other than just moody negative pictures.. so its my first time try something positive.

this time i finally able to use the light reflector effectively LOLZ, although its not very obvious but the effects really added in soem photoshoots when the outside light is bright enough to be reflected XD

Actually this is a outdoor photo I took in the hot afternoon but I adjusted the shutter speed high, Swallow aperture, and low ISO power. so can make it darker..then photoshop edited also.

The concept is just want to express my life, like a journey stepping on the colourful tiles on the floor, and what I stepped on will be what the things I am facing or feelings..

Today why I introduce about this is because I think we all can use this to apply in our photography when taking photos of the object that we want to focus on.

Notan is about placement of dark and light, in colours, in shade and etc..So in order to take a good photo that can greatly/obviously shown what or who is the main character in this photo.. you need to learn to play around with contrast or dark and light to lead the viewer's eye to your main subject.

Although I haven't really adapt this idea and apply it fully.. but I really think its useful to share with you all.

Snails

I personally is a person who like to take photos of nature. But at the same time I would like to try new things, new environment instead of sticking to the things I like or good at. That's how I started to learn photography as well. This as took outside my house where I saw 2 snails walking slowly in my garden... one big and one small. So I suddenly thought of the concept of parent and kid relation. But I failed to get nice, meaningful shot of them.
Other than that, I also tried to play with foucus the details on the snail and blur the background with the lens focus. But maybe I just noob, so din really feel that I got a perfect shot.
I hope next time can get better shots.. Comments and Critiques are greatly welcome. Thank you =)

Photos Took @ Pulau Meranti Batik Shop

My class lecturer last Thursday brought us a trip to Pulau Meranti to visit a Batik shop to let us experience batik before we start our assignment which related to batik. So that day my classmates and I went, and paid 60 ringgit for it =.= include the bus fee and lunch and the price for the canvas for us to learn batik on the spot.
